How do I get my DeviceID in SOTI SNAP to use it for a REST API?

Hello,

I'm very new to Snap and programmed an app to send a damage report from a device via mail (SNAP LINK).

Everything works so far but I want to send the (MobiControl) Device Name because it includes the username and company internal user ID. To do so, I'm using a Rest API command. But to start the command, I need the deviceID of the device in use.

So is there a way to automaticly fill in the deviceID on each device?

I wanted the Device Name because it was made up of the Device Owner and other information needed. But we found another way to go about it.

We changed the device Names to the user personal number (inside the company) which is easy to remember.

Using "/devices/search?filter=DeviceName%20CONTAINS%20%27{devname}%27" in the API call I could get the wanted device now. With that I can use the saved user information in MobiControl to add to my SNAP app.

Hi Christoph,

I know you have to use a hard-to-use method to achieve your use case.

But we have already started work on this feature which is easy to use.

is it possible for you to share the name of the customer/partner interested in this feature? This will help us prioritize this feature better.

Hi Christoph,

Can you please share more details about the kind of device ID that you are interested in?

There are two types of Device ID

  1. SNAP Device ID
  2. MC Device ID (only applicable if device is managed by MC)

Hello Deepak,

I need the MC Device ID. The device is managed by a MC as well. I'm using a MobileBase device, if that makes any difference.

I'm using a Rest API to get the device name which works only if I can put the divece ID in manualy (talking about the MC name and ID here).  I would like the divice ID to be filled in automaticlly.

EDIT: I basicly just need the MC Device Name. To get this using a Rest API, I need the DeviceID.

If there is an easier way to get the MC Device Name, please tell me.
