Table Widget Updates in SOTI SNAP Version 2024.1

The SOTI SNAP table widget is getting some significant enhancements. You will soon be able to set column widths and define text behavior including word wrap, shrink/stretch the columns to fit, or truncate the text if your user doesn’t need to see the entire content. 

This greatly enhances the table viewing experience on the device. You can specify a total table width stretching beyond 100% of the device screen!  A horizontal scroll bar will appear at the bottom of the table to scroll left and right to ensure the user can see all the data.

I hope you’re as excited as we are about this change. However, there are a couple of things to note once 2024.1 is released.

First, if you are using the table widget already in your app and you don’t republish the app, nothing will change on the device side. However, if you do update your app, then the table size may not be what you’d expect, so you’ll have to adjust your column sizes manually and then republish the application. 

Second, you can change the behavior of the text display per table widget.  This means one table may look better with word wrap turned on, while the second table will want to truncate the text if it doesn’t fit.  It’s entirely up to you! 

To make these changes easier, remember to preview the app on the Snap IDE.  This will give you a great idea of how it’ll look on your users’ device(s) before you deploy it to everyone.
