Increase/disable Volume on Zebra MC22 scanners

I would like to disable the option for the users to lower/increase the volume of the beeps, but i can't seem to find the correct option within Soti.

i tried the settings manager, and switched the sound settings to OFF, but it's still possible to change them using the buttons on the device.

I also tried the feature control (allow device volume) , and this option DID disable the volume buttons on the device, but it also disabled the sound, and that's not what i want. So basically i need an option to increase/re-enable the volume when using the feature control.

I don't get your last point but take a look in oem config, ther you should be able to disable the buttons and define a fixed volume level as well.

interesting option, i haven't used these before, but unfortunately there is no option to disable the controls or set the level of volume.

What i meant with my last point, is that the volume is set to OFF when i set the "allow device volume" option within the feature control.

Regarding oem coinfig from Zebra:

For the keys i would think this is the right place to look at:

And for the volumes this one:

But 2 things here:

  1. would definitely need a deeper investigation how to set it up correctly
  2. i think no way to disable it temporarily as it would be possible with feature control

i did find an option to set the volume, but nothing seems to be happening on the device: (as i test, i just set all volumes to 15)

I think i found part of the problem. The only oemconfig i can add, is for samsung devices. I don't have any config listed for zebra devices.

Have you installed the Zebra OEMCofig app from Google Play store onto your devices?

Check Zebra MC22 scanner documentation on whether or which OEMConfig is supported, as there are two such apps from Zebra :

Zebra OEMConfig Powered by MX

Legacy Zebra OEMConfig

Unfortunately i haven't been able to solve the matter yet, since the extended options in the oem config are confusing, and the option in "feature contol" does seem to disable the volume options, but it also complete mutes the scanners when in user mode.

Dear Maurice,

To disable the volume adjustment for beeps on a Zebra MC22, use the StageNow tool to create a new profile with the Audio Vol UIMgr settings. Within the AudioVol UI Mgr settings, add an Audio UI Profile for "Decode Beep", set the Minimum, Maximum, and Preset volume levels to 0 for all modes (Speaker, Receiver, Wired Headset, Bluetooth), and then apply the profile to the device to disable user volume adjustment for the beeps.

unfortunately this did not solve the matter. The volume can still be changed by using the default buttons on the device.

Perhaps this only works for the "Default" audio settings in Android, but since the settings seems to be controlled by a zebra application, this might not work?

Dear @Maurice Lahaije

As you mentioned since the settings seems to be controlled by a zebra application, we request you to please follow below link of our partner ZEBRA.

This article outlines how to enable or disable a scanner to beep after a good decode and set the scanner decode beep for Low, Medium or High.

By default, the scanner has been set as high beep volume.
