What are the version and build numbers of your MobiControl server?

Are your target devices running OEM specific Android+ device agent or generic Android-Enterprise device agent?

Have you checked the profile status to confirm that the application-run-control/feature-control payload has been successfully deployed to the targeted devices?

Hi Raymond.

Running ver: 15.2.6.1006

Using the android-enterprise device agent

I have confirmed the payload status is 'Installed' on the target device.

What are the active MDM API's reported by your device agent?

What about the version and build numbers of your device agent?

Not sure the answer to the first question, you'll have to give me some clarification on how I can get that for you.

The device agent version on the endpoint is: 14.4.3.1074

Just click on your device icon in the web-console, and input "API" as the search pattern in the "Device Details" tab, and then find out what are reported for the field "Supported APIs".

Also, what is the brand of your device?

Have you installed Zebra AE plug-in onto your device?

Is Youtube app a built-in app that comes with the firmware? Or did you deploy the app from Managed Google Play store ?

Have you tried leaving out the first entry (i.e. the item with %youtube% macro's) in your application-run-control profile and see if there's any difference?

No Zebra-AE Plugin that I can see.

Youtube and Youtube Music came factory on these units, not from google play. I removed the first macro like you suggested and completed a soft reset. Unfortunately I am still able to launch Youtube on the endpoint. I forgot to mention, the status for youtube under 'Application' is 'uninstalled'.

Sorry for the late reply.  It was already 3 am in the morning in Hong Kong when I sent my last post and I had to hit my bed.

Does the MobiControl application-run-control profile works for apps other than Youtube on your Zebra device?  What about on other device model(s) enrolled onto your MobiControl server?

Thnks for your new information about the app reported  "uninstalled" status and the existence of two Youtube apps.  Have you done anything to confirm the bundle-ID of the two Youtube apps running on your device?  Is it possible that your bundled Youtube apps have bundle-ID different from the default "com.google.android.youtube" that you've tried, e.g.

  com.google.android.apps.youtube.music

  com.google.android.youtube.tvmusic

  com.google.android.youtube.tv

  com.google.android.apps.youtube.vr

  com.google.android.youtube.googletv

No problem, thanks again for the support!

It doesn't appear to be specific to youtube. I took your suggestion and also blacklisted 'Chrome' and 'Sound Recorder' however both still remain on the endpoint, even though showing a status of 'uninstalled' under applications.

I confirmed the bundle IDs are correct by opening the app on the endpoint, downloading the device log and opening the adb.log and looking for the string that contained the app I opened.

Sorry I forgot to answer your other question. I tried the same payload on one our our TC51 units running Android 8, and getting the same results: showing uninstalled under applications but when I remote control into the device I still see the apps.

So you have problem with any apps, not just Youtube.   As you have mentioned about the abnormal "uninstalled" status of various apps, I suggest you to re-test with AE device agent of version v14.5.1+ (which has related fixes MCMR-22447 & MCMR-26474 according to the online device agent release note.).

Also, to quickly rule the server out as the cause of your problem, I suggest you to test on at least one other brand of AE device(s) not from Zebra, with AE device agent v14.5.1+.
