enabling system apps

Morning all.

i have enrolled several devices using afw#mobicontrol which has worked fine.

devices are honeywell EDA71 tablets using android 8.1.

i did not realise that enrolling devices in this way removes loads of the pre installed applications.

after some frantic searching on google and the forums i found i was able to send the device a script to reenable some of these apps.

the one in question for me is the camera.

i am sending this script

enable_system_app org.codeaurora.snapcam

however this has only worked on approximately 70% of the devices.

is there any reason why this script does not always work?

thanks

Hi Daryl,

have you treid to Enroll the Devices with an QR Code what is Generated with the Honeywell Enterprise Provisioner ?

https://hsmftp.honeywell.com/

In his Code you can add Device Settings and May Wifi settings, Download MobiControl APK, Set it As Device owner and as full Wok Managed.

Disabeling or Enabeling apps on the Device can be done over MobiControl.

And you can generate in the Honeywell Enterprise Provisioner xml Files that you can Push on the Device.

Like Device Settings or Start an Firmware Upgrade to Andriod 10....

I am with Marcus. I would not spend time trying to fix what is wrong with the devices after enrolling them via the AFW method as it will be better to factory reset and re-enroll them using a method that leaves the system apps enabled. There will otherwise be system apps and services that you are not even aware of that are important to the stability of the device that will remain blocked and the devices may end up in a bizarre state forever.

Hi Daryl,

Thank you for requesting an answer from SOTI Support Staff.

Reference this link: https://discussions.soti.net/thread/why-enrollment-by-afw-mobicontrol-and-qr-code-gives-different-results/ - It will explain how you can enroll through the QR method, which allows you to set the PROVISIONING_LEAVE_ALL_SYSTEM_APPS_ENABLED=false to true. This will then show all the default apps within your device's firmware and is your solution.

Let us know if have any further questions or need clarification, always happy to assist.
