Policy configuration takes effect

I have some questions about the device profile policy and need to consult. In the function control, 4 profiles were created. Now I have found a problem. As long as one of the 4 profiles disables Bluetooth or camera, the device will disable Bluetooth or camera, regardless of the order of pushing policies. In addition, the other 3 policies will not take effect even if Bluetooth or camera is turned on. What is the priority rule for device effectiveness? Why does the new push not overwrite the previous push? Will there be similar logic in other policy configurations?

You should avoid pushing multiple different Feature Control Profiles to the same device.  Think of device management like active management, don't think of it like a staging solution where the order of operations matters more.

Hello Qing,

I you apply several feature control profiles to the same device, the most restrictive will apply.

For eample, if in one profile you allow the camera and in other you disable it, it will disable the camera.

Edgar and Matt both mention good reasons why this is not a good idea. In general feature control should be considered a "Gold" feature set and therefore one feature control configuration profile for device type. In general using multiple similar profiles in Soti can have unintended results as the order of profile priority is not configurable yet unless you have the latest version of 2025 where profile prioritization would apply. Even so, it would not be a good idea to have multiple feature control configurations, it does not make sense to do this.

Dear @Qing Ye

Thank You for posting on SOTI Pulse.

Thanks Matt , Edgar and Richard for responding to the post, your expertise and willingness to help are greatly appreciated !

Qing as you look forward assigning multiple profiles to single device which may give unintended results hence, we do not recommend to use feature control like this.

Conflicts between multiple SOTI Mobi Control profiles on a single device are resolved by a predefined order of precedence: the profile assigned first takes precedence also the most restrictive setting from the conflicting profiles applies.

In our 2025 .x version the installation priority can be set as shown below.
