Google domain AE binding is primarily recommended by Google for corporates who are using Google Workspace (formerly called G-Suite).  Setting that up requires a rigorous process for verification of the company domain ownership, and the creation of a Google service account to administer the domain binding to a specific MDM implementation and additional managed user accounts.

Under normal circumstances, using the much simpler Managed-Google-Play account binding is recommended.

I have seen recommendations to use a Managed Play account even in situations where the company may be otherwise using G-Suite.

Some companies may subscribe for Cloud Identity Accounts just for using Google cloud storage or an optional small set of services offered by Google Workspace.  These companies do have access to an admin console similar to that of G-Suite account.   Some devices of users of this company can be re-assigned to use a designated 3rd party EMM solution such as Soti MobiControl, while the remaining devices of remaining users of the company still continue to use Google's EMM solution.  For such cases,  the company can CHOOSE to use Managed Google account for AE binding in Soti MobiControl.

However, even for companies heavily using Google Workspace services but want to exclusively use a third-party EMM solution for all of it employee's devices,   they can still CHOOSE to exclusively use Managed Google Play account binding without worrying anything about domain verification and other issues associated with Managed Google account.   Personally, I think using MGP binding is simpler, cleaner, safer and more flexible for future changes in most cases.

Thanks, Raymond and Matt for your post.

I completely agree with your answers. Appreciate your help.

The setup to use G Suite is lengthy and requires a Google domain for the enterprise. The setup includes creating a Google Service Account and configuring SOTI as the EMM provider. But once the device gets enrolled, Google Workspace (G Suite) will automatically set up on the device and therefore require no further configuration.

One of the main issues faced by the organizations enrolled using the Google domain is that changing some configurations in the Google Admin console might affect the enrollment state of the devices.

So, it is recommended by SOTI to use AE binding compared to G Suite for easy to manage and simple process.
