Windows Modern vs. Windows Classic

Hello,

I've been tasked with researching/implenting Windows 10 machines in our SOTI environement. I see in the choices for Windows machines that there are 2 different tabs - Windows Classic and Windows Modern.

What are the differences between the two of these? Does one offer better ways to configure/manage above the other?

Windows Modern is for any desktop/notebook/tablet devices running on Windows-10 onward.

Windows Classics platform refers to legacy MS-Windows (mainly server/desktop/notebook)  from XP, Vista, 2000, etc before Windows 10.

Hi Evan,

Thank you for requesting an answer from SOTI.

Windows Classic and Windows Modern offer almost similar features on different platforms.

Windows Desktop Classic platform is to manage devices running Windows 8.1 or earlier.
Windows Modern platform is to enroll and manage devices running Windows 10 or Windows Phone 8 and later.

Hi Saputra,

We do not have any such feature as Windows imposed restrictions on their default functions. Moreover, it is not recommended to disable the 'Print Screen' key of Windows 10 device.

Hello.

There is quite a difference between Windows Classic and Windows Modern.

They have in common the kiosk mode, package deployment, file sync, remote control. But Windows Modern let you configure a plethora of settings. Also the enrollment is different, being Windows Classic the most easy.

We have installed Windows Classic agent in many Windows 10 PCs, and works like a charm.

So, you have the 2 options to use depending on your needs.
