Available memory format in report

Hi,

I have set up basic data collection rule just for logging what is going on on our Android devices.

Couple of units have noted that they are out of memory, so I got a look for the logging data.

'Available memory' does not seem to give any logical value, starting with minus (-) and amount is high. On some logic it seems to be used bits, but is that a correct assumption since that does not match the idea of title 'available memory'?

Data Collection rules that I have set up:

Data of the logs for available memory:

-1140219904
-1142300672
-1154449408
-1156825088
-1142095872
-1130221568
-1128972288

Units have 4GB memory, so device details give something like 2,94GB / 3,74GB while usage ranging 2,7GB to 3,1GB currently

Could someone give a hint how to interpret this data?

Thank you for your support!

Could that be the available about of Bytes of Memory? 1142095872/1024 = 1,115,328KB. 1,115,328/1024= 1,089.1875MB which equals  1.06GB.

Thanks,

I was wondering if that was the case as well. But should not be correct since that would be used memory and report should show available memory. Device detail page show around 2,7-3,1GB available so does not match the around 1GB.

Units are on Intel platform, I'll set up another unit to confirm with Qualcomm if there is some difference.

Edit:

I added another unit to our group, with Qualcomm platform (Nexus 6P).

Compared with a new quick Data Collection rule on same group, same rule.

Qualcomm seems to give accurate available memory. Confirmed with another Qualcomm Android 5.1.1. device, same correct value.

It actually seems that Intel platform give different type of data with minus value! All Intel units (same model though) give minus value while logging. So is it used memory shown in report and logging?? Or just a bug or different type of delivered data?

Hello PMa,

After discussion with our Product Management they have advised me that this may be an unknown discrepancy in the reporting with the devices you are experiencing the negative values with.

They have requested that you create a case by selecting the link below or by e-mailing our Support Dept at support@soti.net so we can have a Technical Support Specialist review the data you are receiving VIA the data collection rule, and report it to our developers if necessary.

Hope this helps,

Cheers,
