How to Generate a Report for Available Android Updates Across Multiple OEMs

Hello everyone,

we are currently managing several Android Enterprise devices from different OEMs, including Zebra, Samsung, and Blackview.

We are looking for a way to generate a report or dashboard in SOTI MobiControl that shows:

  • The current Android version on each device

  • Whether an Android OS update is available

  • If so, which version the update would bring the device to

Unfortunately, we have not yet found a reliable method within the MobiControl console to pull this information across all devices and brands.

Does anyone know how to implement this kind of update status reporting in SOTI MobiControl?
Is there perhaps a way using Custom Data, Advanced Search, or any scripted solution via StageNow, OEMConfig, or SOTI Hub?

Any tips or examples would be greatly appreciated.

Reports in MobiControl are clunky and difficult to customize. I think you would be better off createing a custom Device Inventory view with the properties you are looking for and then export that view to CSV.

thanks for your input!

You're right – MobiControl’s reporting features can be a bit clunky. We've already created custom Device Inventory views to track properties like OS versions and export them as CSV files. That works well for basic overviews.

However, what we’re really trying to figure out is whether an Android update is available for each device and which version it would upgrade to – and that part doesn't seem to be available through custom views alone.

Still, I appreciate the suggestion!

The information you need is not all available within MobiControl Web-Console for every brand of AE devices that you mentioned.

 

MobiControl v2025.1 provides integrated GUI for firmware management of Samsung devices using E-FOTA, and may be part of your solution if your Samsung devices use E-FOTA.

That’s very helpful to know. We are indeed using Samsung E-FOTA, so we’ll definitely take a closer look at the firmware management integration in MobiControl v2025.1 – sounds promising.

Do you happen to know if something similar exists or is planned for Zebra (e.g. via LifeGuard OTA or StageNow integration) or even Blackview devices?

We’re trying to build a unified process to identify and manage Android OS updates across all our OEMs, so any additional insight is greatly appreciated.

Hi Fabian, 

For Zebra, MobiControl integrates with LifeGuard OTA for managing OS updates, while StageNow can be used for advanced staging. For Blackview, there isn’t native integration yet—updates are typically handled via standard Android policies or OEMConfig.
