Hey everyone,

I'm currently trying to figure out how to disable the Quickshare app.

Users have the option to access the Android Bluetooth settings via kiosk mode. (com.android.settings/.Settings$BluetoothSettingsActivity)

Unfortunately, this also gives access to Quick Share.

How can I disable it?

The device and Android version are as follows.

- Zebra TC 26

- Android 11 (11-64-10.00-RG-U00-STD-HEL-04)

- MX version 13.5.1.7

Thank you very much for any help ^^

How about provide Soti Settings manager instead to provide BT settings access:

Instead of providing access to the "default" BT settings?

Thanks for the quick reply. :D

I tried the app, but unfortunately there's a problem.

You can't enter the pairing code from another device.

I found the solution here.

You can consider using either

    Zebra OEMCOnfig app (com.zebra.oemconfig.release) to add blacklist configuration to restrict system package "com.google.android.gms.nearby.sharing" ;

or

Zebra StageNow tool to create a profile to disable the system package "com.google.android.gms.nearby.sharing"  via App Manager CSP

In which context do you have this quickshare? What type of Lockdown do you use?

Quickshare falls under com.google.android.gms.  The activity is :

com.google.android.gms/.nearby.sharing.main.MainActivity

I will have a look in details if there's a posibility to block it. If you disable the entire com.google.android.gms, then you'll face a lot of issues, especially if you rely on Playstore, or need push notifications from other apps.

What you can do, if your enviorement allows it, you can disable the quicktile for Quickshare / nearbyshare, and you can disable also the in-app sharing ui via Stagenow ui manager CSP or with Zebra oemconfig.

hey,

Thanks for your help. ^^

I will test it in the next few days.

The reason for this is that my company has received new trucks. The Zebra TC26 should connect to the infotainment system via Bluetooth.

However, SOTI lockdown mode prevents the pairing code from being displayed on the T26. That's why I found this post.

https://support-new.zebra.com/de/article/000020557?language=en_US

However, Quickshare poses a risk for us. Employees have the ability to share or receive data. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to send a malicious file and exploit a vulnerability.

I'll add the following information.

  • Mobicontrol version: 2024.1.1.1058
  • The device is in SOTI lockdowon im nativ mode.

This won't work.

if you disable the main app: com.google.android.gms mostlikely it will disable quickshare also. But that will break the entire google play and other services that require google services to work (like push notifications and so on)

If you don't rely on Google services, then you can try this.

Otherwise, try to disable inter-app sharing via  UImanager CSP ( https://techdocs.zebra.com/mx/uimgr/#inter-app-sharing-enabledisable)

Since you have native lockdown, i assume that the user doesn't have access to quicktiles.

I did a test on one of my devices, with native lockdown, and inter-app sharing disabled and with the lockdown on, i can't send any files via quickshare from or to another device.

Maybe someone here knows how to disable just an activity from an application.
