Hello,

maybe someone can answer this question for me if the new bitdefender cloud will atleast use a aws fqdn like for the agent delivery system (agentdservice.s3.amazonaws.com):

I dont really know if this needs to be handled like this , as for security reasons we wont whitelist the whole AWS APIs just to have bitdefender working.

Hello Joe,

The information you quoted in the FAQ's was what we were supplied to answer such questions.

Have you experienced any issues so far with the new Bitdefender "Cloud"?   I understand you being cautious in what you allow through your firewall.

As this is new to us we would love to hear your feedback so that we can assist you in using this feature correctly.

So we need to whitelist all adresses in this json to have the bitdefender "cloud" working?

https://ip-ranges.amazonaws.com/ip-ranges.json

It would be great if you could be more specific about whitelisting aws api, amazon web service api for me is just a broad term.

Do we need to whitelist your SOTI / bitdefender API adress or CDN etc. or really the whole IP-Range-JSON File from amazon ?

Hello Joe,

Thank you for requesting a response from SOTI Support Staff.

The list that you have provided was very helpful in my requesting more of a definitive list as we agree that it is a very long list.  We have reached out to BitDefender to see if they can be more specific, rather than suggesting to whitelist all ip's.

As the initial response was that "The IPs are elastic and geographical based, so they change time to time based on who is accessing it, where and when."

Once we receive a response we will update the thread accordingly.

Regards and thank you for your post.

Thanks a lot!

It would be nice if bitdefender / soti can give us a specific fqdn maybe different ones for different regions perhaps, but yeah whitelisting whole aws ip range isnt a good choice..

Any Update on this Topic?

Hi Jon,

The official answer is still "you need to open AWS IP's" in order to get access.

Our Product Managers are investigating other options BD has provided as a resolution, in case this alternative is the only solution.  There is a Developer's ticket in progress.  Site moderators can monitor next steps and will update you accordingly.

If you like, a case can be created by emailing @support@soti.net to add your use case to assist in prioritizing as well.

Hi John,

Because of the use of "dynamic loads" there is no control over IP allocation and BD did not provide a FQDN, but the alternate suggestion they provided is still in progress VIA the Developer ticket.

As this is a priority to you, I still suggest creating a Technical Support ticket at Support@soti.net.  This should assist in prioritizing the request to "whitelist a set of limited IP addresses" with our developers, as well as the FAQ response that was provided.

Unfortunately, its the first time i am somewhat stuck in a loop with support, because they dont understand the real problem.

Hello John,

We have reached out to your Technician to provide context and assistance with your case.  As the development ticket is still open we have referred him to this for more information and follow up.
