Error renewing VPP token

Hello everyone,

We currently have the problem that we cannot renew our VPP token. The error message shown in the screenshot appears.

We are also unable to perform a VPP sync (result: the same error message). However, the VPP connection test works successfully.

If the app mentioned in the error message is removed in the Business Manager, a different app ID appears.

Has anyone had this problem before?

What are the version and build numbers of your MobiControl server? Is it an on-premises or a cloud instance?

Have you checked for any related entries in the Management Server log file as indicated in the web-console warning?  If so, could you please share such information?

we do have the same issue but only some apps seems to be affected.

I did create a new VPP connection and assigned just Mobicontrol - this was working. But after adding MS Teams I see the issue.

we are using MC 2024.1.1.1058

Hi Torsten.

Yes, the Teams app is also one of the problematic apps for us.

One question:

Did you change anything about your Apple IDs in Apple Business Manager (names, passwords, etc.) before the issues occurred?

We are unsure if a previous change could have caused these issues.

Hello Simon,

today my test VPP with TEAMS is working but another one with "Numbers"  or "Windfinder" not.

Adding Windfinder to the test location breaks the sync.

This problem is related to API change of Apple VPP/ASL backend.

To fix the problem, either upgrade the MobiControl server to a version with the right fix (e.g. resolve issues MCMR‑37866 & MCMR‑38053  for MC v2025.0.2), or get the right DLL library file to be installed properly in the existing MobiControl installation directory for MC v2024 or earlier versions. The procedure/details varies with different MobiControl versions.

So, officially open a new case with Soti support team to select the fix suitable for your particular implementation.
