Zebra Printer Device Relocation thru API

Hi Team,

Good Day :-) May I ask your expertise on how we can use the API, with our Zebra printer device relocation rule?

Has anyone tried and test this before?

Thanks

Please clarify if you want to use API call(s) to add/configure device-relocation rule? Or if want to use API  call to implement moving of device to a different group unconditionally/conditionally based on some specific parameter(s)?

I don't quite understand what and why you are asking.  If you want to use device relocation rule, then set the parameters directly via your web-console.   On the other hand, if you just want unconditional moving of device(s) from one group to another, device-relocation rule is not needed.  If the move is conditional, you should explain what factor or factors need to be considered.   So, please provide details of your use case the reason(s) the policy has to be configured with API's and the expected behaviour.

For using REST API, you have to decide the programming language/framework to be used.   You also have to look into the API documentations associated with the MobiControl server version you are using for basic stuff such as authentication and the list of API calls supported..  If you choose to use Powershell to test out, you can use "API" keyword to search in this forum for various posts or articles with simple but useful example codes.

Once you have clarify your use case details and encounter some tricky problem in your codes, maybe you can share more details and we'll see if anyone can provide any help.

Hi Rommel Ocampo

Thank you for your post on SOTI Pulse, and a special thanks to Raymond for his response.

Have you had a chance to test the recommendations provided by Raymond?

I agree with what Raymond mentioned, especially regarding the use of device relocation rules. If you wish to employ a device relocation rule, you can directly set the parameters through your web console. Simply create a relocation policy or rule, apply it to your desired devices, and they will relocate accordingly. However, if you merely want an unconditional movement of device(s) from one group to another, a device-relocation rule is not necessary.

Regarding your inquiry about APIs, I'm still seeking clarity on your specific request or requirements related to APIs. If you could provide more details or examples, it would greatly assist us in understanding your needs better.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out. We're dedicated to providing assistance and support.
