Why does SOTI Surf for Android show passwords in the text suggestion field and Chrome does not?

We have a web application that our users login to with their Active Directory credentials. When they open the application with Surf and start to enter credentials, their password is displayed in the suggested text field. When using Chrome, the text suggestion area is blank. These devices are running Android 11 and it was the same with Android 10.

Hi Tim,

Greetings!!

Thanks for your post to SOTI Central.

Can you confirm if the Allow Autofill option is disabled on the SOTI Surf Configuration profile?

Can you please confirm if the problem is happening only on this particular web application or if it's also happening on other web applications while using SOTI Surf? If you're using it in Lockdown mode, I recommend that you raise a support ticket, so that we can investigate it more thoroughly.

I did log a case and should have updated this. The resolution was to use Zebra's Enterprise Keyboard. I had installed it and was testing as a workaround already, but I was hoping for information on the different behavior of the keyboard. In the end, Enterprise Keyboard offers other features that make it better for the UI so it is all good.

Here is some other info I received from support:

SOTI Surf is currently based on Android Webview and not Chromium Webview. So If the web app is utilizing features that are exclusively available on Chrome / Chromium Webview, then that's the reason for showing some differences in both.
