Hello,

I would like to know why a G Suite account is not accepted with a "Managed Enterprise" scenario.

Do we mandatory need to follow the "Google Domain" way?

Can somebody please clearly explain what's the difference between the 2 options?

Thanks!

Hi Remy,

Thanks for your posting in SOTI Central.

G Suite users aren't eligible for the managed enterprise link because Device based accounts are only available on managed Google Play accounts, rather than managed Google accounts (G Suite),

Please see the following google android enterprise discussions forum regarding this: https://support.google.com/work/android/thread/62009225?hl=en

In order to setup the binding please see the following from our documentation below:
https://www.soti.net/mc/help/v15.3/en/console/devices/managing/enrollment/androidplus/enterprise/link_google_mc.html

Please also see the following which related to this:

https://www.soti.net/mc/help/v15.3/en/console/reference/dialogs/globalsettings/afweb_configure.html
https://www.soti.net/mc/help/v15.3/en/console/devices/managing/enrollment/androidplus/enterprise/link_google_mc.html

If you have further question, please let me know

I don't believe this is a SOTI specific limitation but rather a Google Android Enterprise limitation. You are better off using a Managed Play account than binding to the Gsuite enterprise even if it is a Gsuite environment. Jason Bayton explains it well here on the Google forums:

https://support.google.com/work/android/thread/62009225/android-enterprise-google-domain-bind-cannot-create-generic-device-accounts?hl=en

"What's recommended is using managed Google Play accounts under almost all circumstances, which support both user and device accounts. Combined with an EMM that can support G Suite identity separately (MobileIron do this well, with a policy toggle to add a Google account) you get all the benefits of mGPa and G Suite identity without having to bind your enterprise to G Suite."
