File browser in Remote control on Zebra Android N devices

Is anybody able to use file browser on Zebra Android N devices?

I have tested TC20 N with latest android enterprise .apk + RC Hawkeye plugin in DO mode and there is no way to use file browser in remote control.

We should be able to access \storage\emulated\0\ path.

Thank you

Confirmed, it works.

We lost access to the whole file system (especially enterprise folder on Zebra devices), but have full access to the internal storage. I couldn't try external storage for now.

Are you sure you're not just looking for sdcard? /sdcard is the same thing as /storage/emulated/0

You are not able to see any files when using Zebra android N with SOTI remote control.

I may have misinterpreted your original question. It sounds like File Browser isn't working at all on the TC20 with Remote Control? I don't have a TC20 but I do have a VC80x, TC51, and a MC3300 all on Nougat and File Browser is working for me. I'm using the Zebra MobiControl APK version 13.5.0.1088 and have enrolled the devices in Device Admin mode. I enrolled one VC80x in DO mode with the Android Enterprise APK and was only able to Remote View and not Remote Control. I don't recall if I was able to use the File Browser feature or not as I reverted back to using DA.

Yes, thats correct, file browser is not working at all on TC20/TC25 when in DO mode.

Hi Milan,

Based on the information you have provided this may not be working as expected.   I have created a case for you and have had it assigned to a Technical Support Specialist here at Soti as we may need to inform our developers of the issue.

Please check you inbox for details and the case number.

Any update on this ? I'm on the same boat, TC56 N, android enterprise DO mode, and no file browser capability.

Hi Laurent,

Our developers are aware of this issue and they are currently working on the issue which was brought to our attention in various cases.

A fix or workaround has not been provided yet but I can assure you that it is on a road map to be addressed.  Feel free to create a case with support@soti.net so that our developers can officially be made notified that you are experiencing the same circumstances on your devices.

Alternatively, when it get resolved in the developers case I can update the post.

Regards,

LN

Thanks, if it's on the road map we can wait until it's solved.

Any clue yet if it will be through server update, agent update or both ?

Any update on this ?

It's beginning to be problematic for us. Having some custom software issues, replacing some files through RC explorer would save us amounts of time not having to use file sync every time.

Loosing this from A+ mode is a big step back for now

Hi Laurent,

The fix is currently in a "Pending Release" state, meaning that a release will be coming soon providing that it passes all our QA testing.

We thank you for your continued patience and we will update the thread when the solution has been published.

That's good news, thank you

I updated the agent version to the build 1577 that just showed up, and now  it seems to work. I'll test more tomorrow.

Yes, it seems working with build 1577. I have tested new enterprise android apk on TC20 Android Nougat.

Zebra L10A with 14.0.0.1579 agent and 1.6.0.102 plugin on v15 server.  (Also same on v14 server).  File browsing is limited to /sdcard in both GUI and command prompt.

Is this just me or is this standard AE behavior moving forward?

I have only been able to get /sdcard/ access on any of the Zebra devices enrolled under AE whereas we had full access to /enterprise and the other directories previously. You can still obviously place files like the DW config files into the /enterprise directory path with a Package or File Sync, you just can view it from RC.

Huh.  Here's a new one for you:

writeprivateprofstring rc_expected_files / dir|dir|...

writeprivateprofstring rc_expected_files / enterprise|proc|etc

SOTI mystical knowledge strikes again.

Apparently a known AE issue and being worked on...

Unreal! I'll add it to the list of undocumented settings....
