Is it possible to get read only access to the MobiControl database?

It would be ideal to run queries against multiple devices to review certain device details in one window. FYI, this is a cloud instance.

Hi Tim,

You may use "Advanced Search Filter" on the top of the page by using different variable via AND/OR operators, similar to below to list multiple devices, and export them as well as excel etc. if needed.

On the other hand, you may also use Virtual Group to list devices that has same filters. Virtual Group does not have all the device variable as Advanced Search. I hope it helps. If you have another specific need, I'll be happy to know more details. Thank you.

Hi,

Thank you for the response, it is appreciated. I didn't really put much detail in my description though.

I do currently have a filtered virtual group, I just don't want to hit the navigation arrows to check the installed applications or configurations on each. I would like to just run a query to see the applications and configurations for all filtered devices, along with their individual statuses.

I don't think the latest web-console supports displaying a full list of all profile or application status of selected devices on the same page.   However, advanced search does support adding criteria such as "profile status" != "installed" to partially help you find which device(s) does/do not have all assigned profile properly installed.

Thank you Ramond, I appreciate that and will definitely look into the capabilities of the the advanced search. I may be able to make this work if I am looking for a specific condition.

Ideally, I would like to use SQL to query the data. I have been told this is just for SOTI themselves.Have you heard anything about this?

Hi Tim,

Just let you know; you may also have a look at the "Custom Data (especially)" or "Custom Attribute" features to tag anything and use the filter on your device group or on your profile assignment. etc. There should be some other Soti Pulse or SOTI Help pages related this. Custom Attribute is more manual, but you can use Custom data via JS Script a kind of automated and that would be good for some cases.

About the profile configuration you may not get deep information about what configuration of a profile is configured under the feature control from the profile configuration section on WebConsole by using a UI, but advanced search would be more user friendly and easy to use option.

Thank you

Zafer

Hi Tim,

Anyone can access data in Mobicontrol database with Microsoft SQL Management Studio, Powershell, or other free/paid third-party query tools.   Some data can be correctly guessed directly from the names of the column and database table the data reside in.   However, without detailed official documentation of the schema and meaning of different parameters/values in each column of each database table, "accurately" interpreting the dataset read become very hard.

Hi Raymond,

Thanks again for the continued help. We have a cloud instance and I have tried a few options for the server connection info from SSMS and wasn't able to connect. I used information from the server pages connection info so I should have been close. I am not an SQL expert, but have a fair amount of experience.

I did log a case and was told this; "Unfortunately we cannot provide access to the server, but we can provide a copy of the DB if you require one. "

I was able to use the advanced search for my initial concerns in this conversation. I simply searched for apps that should be uninstalled to identify problem devices.

For what is it worth, in the survey, I did let them know that read only access could only help customers and could very well help improve their UI.
