Google Play Managed Apps

When enrolling a device for the first time, I’m expecting Google Play Managed apps to be pushed to the device immediately. I have 4 apps set to high priority, and also have them set in the profile to the assigned devices. Lastly, they are set to mandatory. As an example, I have had a device enrolled for 2 hours and the apps haven’t pushed yet. I have seen some posts on here saying it’s really up to Google. I don’t believe so and here’s why. I am currently using Samsung Knox Manage as MDM for over 150 devices. I’ve used Knox manage for almost a year. When I enroll a device, the apps have always pushed immediately - within minutes, a few times I’ve seen it take up to 30 minutes but that’s even rare. I also trialed Hexnode and guess what, apps pushed immediately. Based on this, I’d say it’s a Soti issue. Overall I like Soti way better than Knox Manage, and has way more features than Hexnode. So what can we do to make these apps install faster?

Hi,

did you can see only these 4 the Apps in the Google Play Store ready for installing?

What Agent Version are you using ?

What MobiControl Version are you using?

Devices as AE enrolled ? or in an other way to MobiControl`?

We Enroll it as AE and with an App Policy and these apps are getting instant after enrollment installed on the Device.

What are the brands/models of your problematic devices?  How many devices did you try but had the same problem?  Were the failing results consistent or were they sporadic or some other brands/models had no problem?   Have you checked MobiControl server log files to find entries related to managed app deployment of the device concerned.

After failing with MobiControl, did you immediately switch the same device to use Samsung KNOX Manage and Hexnode  and found no problem?   Or are you referring to another device brand/model or another time period?

Your comments and conclusion should be based on SOLID and SYSTEMATIC tests.      Based on my experience on hundreds of MobiControl and other MDM servers, and deployments of many tens of thousands of enrolled AE devices, long/indefinite deployment delay of managed apps can be due to one or any combination of the following factors:

- Device firmware version;

- Latest Google services module not yet updated onto devices;

- MobiControl device agent and server versions;

- Conflicting policies and/or corrupted MobiControl database;

- Google back-end (regional server maintenance, network issues, etc.)

etc,

The cause and relevant fix differed for each case encountered.

So, after you have completed careful testing and collection of relevant log and test data, I believe you or Soti support should be able to narrow down the root cause and find the right fix.
