Process Description

Issue

SOTI MobiControl Administrators are unable to grant the "Usage Access" permission silently on their Android devices that are enrolled as an Android Enterprise Work Managed Device, and are instead prompting their device-users to grant the permission when pushing the Activity Suppression Method Lockdown policy to the device.

Affects

All Android Enterprise Work Managed Devices.

Cause

The issue occurs because there currently is no standard Google API to obtain the "Usage Access" permission for the Android Enterprise agent without device-user interaction.

Resolution

Please upgrade your Android Enterprise agent to version 13.6.0 Build 1967 or above, and install the Plugin version 1.15.3.109 or later that is compatible with your Device/OEM.

If you prefer to obtain this permission before pushing down the Activity Suppression Method Lockdown policy, please send the following script command:

request_appops_permission android.permission.PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS
