Newland and SOTI Partnership Supports the Healthcare Sector

Newland and SOTI Partnership Supports the Healthcare Sector

For over 25 years, SOTI has been dedicated to the healthcare vertical. It developed an annual report researching the digital needs of the global healthcare sector and monitoring how it is improving its device and technology integration. The core focus of the report is to understand the time taken away from delivering patient care because of failing technology. This requires device manufacturers like Newland EMEA to work in collaboration with SOTI so devices are ready to use, tested and SOTI certified.

With its fifth healthcare sector report, SOTI is establishing a core foundation of what is working and the true impact that legacy systems have on patients. Notably over this period, the downtime of devices is increasing – up to almost four hours lost per week per employee due to technical or system difficulties in 2024. In fact, 26% state they lose over five hours per week.

SOTI’s research methodology is to go to every Information Technology Decision Maker (ITDM) and healthcare professional across all our core regions to understand how these tech frustrations also impact patient care delivery. We can then better understand the sector’s challenges and where we can help, bringing in our expert partners along the way.

“We are seeing a significant increase in demand for secure and fast communication systems within hospitals. This increase is primarily due to the changing needs of modern healthcare facilities, where timely and accurate information exchange is critical to ensuring the highest standards of patient care. By leveraging advanced technologies such as Mobile Computers and Micro Kiosks, healthcare organizations ensure that data is not only shared real-time, but also remains accurate and is time-stamped. Technology advancements such as telehealth and artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare, are evolving rapidly. It promises better patient outcomes, increased accessibility and enhanced efficiency,” comments Sebastian Weides, Senior Product Manager (PDA & CIT) of Newland EMEA.

Creating Healthy Technology Partnerships

Newland EMEA develops scanners that aim to make users’ daily tasks easier and more intuitive. Their range of sophisticated mobile computers is SOTI certified and enables the secure and accurate handling and storage of patient data and healthcare organizational data.

This partnership strengthens patient care provided by tightening up the data scanned and collected on every device. The SOTI and Newland partnership promotes the use of advanced scanners, ensuring reduced risks for healthcare and patients with interconnectivity to electronic patient records. For example, healthcare professionals who administer medication in the pharmacy will also be better protected since correct dosage and usage will be accurately verified and recommended in real-time.

“SOTI’s mission is to deliver exceptional device experiences for end users in all sectors – so they do not have to think about data protection, compliance and encryption issues. Instead, they can focus on using technology to support better clinical decision-making, enhancing the speed and accuracy of patient care,” states Shash Anand, SVP, Product Strategy at SOTI.
