Hi all, I wonder if anybody can help me. I have recently installed SOTI MobiControl on a Windows Server 2012 R2. Everything goes well until the point that I have to provison a device. I have used two methods: self-extracting executable and device agent URL address. On the first case, the executable installs properly on the Honeywell 70E (Windows 6.5), however it never gets to connect to the server (on the SOTi client says Connecting to .... and never gets to it). Using the URL address, I get an error page saying that page doesn't exist on the actual server and it never brings up the page asking for permission to allow the certificate. Both devices (Honeywell and server) ping each other, so there should be no reason why the devices cannot enrol on the server. So, I installed SOTI MobiControl on a Win10 laptop. Doing this same testing between the Honeywell and the Win10, the device connects right away (using the URL, I get the typical pop-up asking for the certificate). Both servers (win10 and win2012) have exactly the same config and the 2012 doesn't have the firewall enabled. Do you know if there is any SSL setting on the server that I should activate? Or any other idea why the server doesn't work and the Win10 does? Many thanks
We have an connection issue for the MobiControl agent on our CN51 devices. When the agent starts it just says "Connecting to xxx" and nothing happens, if you manually click connect it connects directly to the server. We suspect that the SIM cards data Connection is not yet ready when the agent is starting and tries to connect. Is it possible to configure re-connect after a few seconds on the agent, or can you delay the startup? Thanks / Henric
Hey there, as you all know, when installing a new version of MobiControl you also need to upgrade the device agent on all of your devices. I always have a lot of problems, when trying to upgrade the device agent on my Zebra MK4000 Win/CE devices. These devices have a very low amount of RAM and disk space and pretty much erase everything thats not stored in the \Application folder during a cold boot. There is a script that gets executed everytime during cold boot, which installs applications and changes some settings around on the device to get it "ready for work". I've also included the installation of the MobiControl device agent in this script. Unfortunately there is no specific device agent for the MK4000, I've already reached out to SOTI a while ago and asked for a agent but the support told me to use the generic one for Win/CE devices. Everything works fine, once the new agent is on the device... but getting it on there is quite the task.... When upgrade the agent via the MobiControl console its always a gamble if the device comes back online or not. If not, I have to reach out to the user and ask him to cold boot the device... during boot the script installs the old agent again. At least Im able to remote control it again but im pretty much back to where I started. The device logs only show a message "Agent upgrade attempt failed". If the agent upgrade is successful I use a FileSync rule to get the new .CAB-File on the device. This always works without any errors. Is it somehow possible to sync files with a rule when the agent on the device is outdated? If so, I could push the new agents .CAB-File to the device... tell the user to cold boot it and the bootscript installs the new agent. Done. I hope someone reads through all this. :-)
We had a script that we pushed to laptops to reboot them working fine in MC13. The script stopped working when we upgraded to MC14. We are now at the latest MC14 version and we can't get it to work. Does anyone have any ideas? This is very important to us because it returns the laptop to the state where a smartcard and PIN is needed to access the latop's contents. Thanks!
What protocol does SOTI use when connecting to a Windows Desktop computer? Is it Remote Desktop? Can other programs use the client on the desktop computer to control the computer? What security does the client have to prevent connections from other remote control programs? Can the client be hacked to allow another program to connect to and control a windows computer?
Hi guys, I have recently purchased SOTI MobiControl to be used with Honeywell Dolphin 70E :) WMC6.5 So far so good, but I'm trying to automate as much as possible the config of these devices. Does anybody know if there is a way to automate the "regional settings": time, date, language, keyboard Thanks :)
I need to uninstall an application on 260 of my 500 Zebra MC55 Windows Mobile/CE devices. I used the search provided by the MobiControl console to specify those 260 devices. The 260 devices are all in different device groups. Deployed a package which contained the uninstall script to 1 test device via a profile and it worked without any errors. I was thinking to create a new filtered group and put all devices that need the uninstall in there but there is no way to assign a Profile to filtered or virtual groups? Whats the "best way" to target only those 260 devices and uninstall the application via a MobiControl script? Thanks! Regards, Michael
Does anyone have experience managing Windows 10 devices via MobiControl in an environment where the devices will not be enrolled in a domain? Specifically what types on controls are available to lock the devices down, manage updates, etc?
When creating an agent its says we need to use an LDAP Group. Of course in the tutorial videos these are already set up. My pull downs are empty. What do I do now? , I assume this has to be set up on the PC that is running SOTI. I am running Soti on a window 7 machine that is on a separate wireless network. I have an agent that was created to run on Window 8. Can I use that agent? Sorry to be so clueless any help would be appreciated. I need a SOTI for dummies book
How can we disable Windows Updates via MobiControl in case of Windows Classic?
Hi, i have a problem with the device name. i have a zebra / symbol MC92 CE7 installed with an agent and everything works perfect. only when i want to reinstall the scanner with a diffrent agent (and diffrent device name) the scanner keeps the 'old' device name. the rest of the 'new agent' is working fine. like device target. Old device name ( agent WH700 / target folder wh700_staging) : MC92N0CE_WH700 new device name ( agent WH100 / target folder wh100_staging): MC92N0CE_WH100 what did i do: factory reset the device (mc92) delete device from soti when it is offline reinstall the device with the new agent (agent wh100). check if the device installed the new agent --> Yes device name still MC92N0CE_WH700. NOT correct device location WH100_staging. Correct. anyone an idea?
The folder exists and we have write permission
I want to know what does Fusion mean and what are the different ways it can be configured in MobiControl.
There is a setting in the Global Settings" section of v14.0 MobiControl called: "Windows Health Attestation Server". What is this used for?
