Is it possible to send an intent from my application to execute a SOTI script? Either running a SOTI script file which I have sent to the device with FileSync or sending a command to MobiControl (e.g. reboot). There are certain actions my app does not have permission to do but would be easy to achieve with a SOTI script. However, I need to do these actions conditionally from within my app such as executing an APK. Based on the other forum post below, it is possible to launch a SOTI script from a shortcut on the lockdown. However, is it possible to launch a SOTI script from my application via an intent to MobiControl? Android : Launch-able SOTI Script shortcut on SOTI Lockdown Thanks.
Hi, Is there any way in SOTI that would set my own app as the default launcher on Android? Everytime an update on my app is performed, since the old one is deleted before the new one is installed, a prompt to choose the default launcher will pop-up and we would like that our launcher would be always the default launcher, no exeptions.
Hi, A customer of ours is using an application that is downloaded from the Google Play Store through the Application Catalog. When the application has a new version, the developers are making use of the in-app update API where it prompts the user the update the application now or wait until later. The problem is that if the user presses the update button, they are taken to the Google Play Store where they can download any application they want. I can't blacklist the Play Store as we do want the applications to auto update when the Play Store does so, I just need to be able to stop the application presenting the prompt. I've done some research and I don't think it's possible to suppress this or block it completely but if anyone can suggest anything to try I'd appreciate the help. Thanks Josh.
So I can't figure out how to get our app to auto upgrade on kiosk devices. I've got a Google Play store page set up for a private app, and I'm able to issue upgrades through the play store page. Next, I have to go into the mobicontrol cloud and update the application catalog, which isn't ideal, but whatever, I can deal with that, but after updating the application catalog, none of our devices will download the upgrade. The only way I've been able to get devices to upgrade is to remote control into the device in Admin mode, go into the application catalog in the DPC and upgrade the app. Moreover, there seems to be a bug with this scenario because after I upgrade the app with these steps, when I go to set the device back into User mode, the app will be uninstalled! I then have to re-install the latest app and then I will be able to set the device back into User mode. I've asked a sales engineer that has been helping me out some, but he's not very responsive and hasn't provided any information on how to get the app to auto upgrade. There was a Droidcon Berlin talk just last week I think about setting devices up in kiosk mode and through their own setup they were able to get apps to auto upgrade, plsu they were also able to use the test tracks in the Google Play Store. I've been trying to use the test tracks of the private google play store app for a while but Soti doesn't have any information about that either, and that probably deserves another question, but I know it's doable and getting the app to upgrade should also be possible. Is it possible to get these private apps to auto upgrade without having to log into each one and manually doing it? Thanks,
Hi, I have an application Catalog setup to install Amazon Relay only. It's set as a mandatory application but it's not installing. I can see the application is available for me to download when I break out of the kiosk. Is there a way of automating the download of this application? We don't want our customers to have to break out of the Kisok to download applications Thanks Josh.
Hi, I'm currently running Mobi Control V13.3. I have Lock down profile on Android Devices, and an Application Catalog for them. Everytime I deploy a new Update to the App, Users have to manually update their App ( which isn't too difficult ). However alot of the users aren't tech savy. Our Customer is asking, is there a way we can force auto update of an App in Android ? From my ressearch, i can see that it's possible for iOS devices, to push Auto Updates. But i don't see any such feature in Android or Android +. Any help is appreciated. Regards Nhan.
