Silent notification of in-house app on Android

I've been grappling with this issue for some time, and have posted about it before but I'm starting a fresh thread as suggested by Soti and following confirmation from them that this is an Android OS issue which cannot be fixed by Soti. The issue is that in-house apps cannot be successfully deployed to Android devices automatically, when using BYOD or COPE profiles. In work managed enrolments, updates to the in-house app deploy seamlessly without problem. In work profile (BYOD) and COPE enrolments, MobiControl attempts to deploy the app but Android requires user permission, and no notification or request is displayed. A silent notification does appear in the notification tray if the user looks for it, but they need to seek it within 30 minutes of the update being pushed out, otherwise MobiControl abandons the update attempt. I would have expected that, with a COPE (company owned, personal profile) device, the app deployment would be automatic, and that with a BYOD profile the user would be asked for permission to update. But the actual behaviour is the same with both BYOD and COPE profiles, and requires each user to be personally asked to deploy the update within 30 minutes. There are no notifications displayed under any circumstances. The behaviour is the same regardless of whether deploying the app via an app policy or a profile. It is also the case that, in order even to get to this point, the "Allow installation of apps from unknown sources" permission must be given to MobiControl in the work profile (undocumented), AND a similar permission must be expressly enabled in the Restrictions -> Security section of the device profile on the MobiControl server. After 10 months of troubleshooting, Soti have finally told me that this is the 'expected behaviour' according to Google. Has anyone else experience this and, more importantly, found a way to work around it? Thank you James MobiControl server 15.6.3.1018

Access to certificates in work profile (COPE)

Hi everyone, since there's no possibility to configure native VPN on Work Profile devices (COPE), we let the users configure their VPN settings on their own. We are pushing a device certificate via MobiControl. On fully managed (COBO) devices, the user is able to select this certificate in the VPN settings. Unfortunately, the user cannot do this on COPE devices, because the work profile has its own certificate store where the user doesn't have access to. Does anybody know how we can solve this problem?

    Account action required: Android Enterprise

We keep getting the notification that there is account action requiered. When trying to do this, I get the Google login screen where the e-mailadres field is already prefilled with "Android Enterprise". When clicking continue, it gives an error: fill in a valid e-mailadres. We are unable to change this field when clicking on it. (No keyboard is appearing and also no cursor, so I guess you don't need to change this). If I check "accounts" on the phone, I see 2 "work" accounts: What can be the issue here? Uninstall package on AE COPE device

Hi, I have lot of issuess with COPE devices :(  One of the most important is that we cant uninstall custom app (using package and profile for deploy it). We try: - Revoke profile (app still there) - Send script with uninstall process (nothing happens) - No option from web interface - Make a SotiMobicontrol Package with apk and a pre-install script with uninstall command All work fine on managed devices, but on COPE..... I think this issue may be related to this behaviour: you can use filesync rule to deploy .jpg on %sdcard%, but when you send script to define wallpaper dont find anything on %sdcard%, cause first one deploy file on work profile, and second one search on personal profile. Seems like scripts applies only to personal data, profiles to work profile, its  frustrating. Thanks. \\VERSIONS Mobicontrol: 15.2.1.1094 Agent: 14.5.0 build 1011 Device: ANDROID ENTERPRISE Android Status Provisioned / Enabled with Managed Google Play Accounts     Management Type: Corporate Personal Work Profile Enabled: Yes Android version: 10 - 11 Manufacturer: Samsung

    Mode COPE Android 11 Solved

Hello, Has anyone among you tested COPE mode on Android 11? During our tests, the devices register either in "Work Managed Device" mode with afw#mobicontrol or in "Corporate Personal" mode via Knox Enrollment. In the first case, there isn't pro/personal container, the profiles are of "Android Enterprise" type.In the second case, there is pro/personal container, the profiles are of "COPE" type except that the remote is in "view" mode. The SOTI enrollment rule is the same in both cases: check "Enroll your fully managed device with a work profile"In addition, we don't encounter these issues with Android 10. Console version: 15.3.0.6713 If anyone has any information on these topics. Thank you.

Fully managed device with work profile on SOTI Solved

Is it possible to setup the Samsung device with Android 8+ OS as Fully managed devices with work profile (COPE) without use of Samsung Knox container? The Google docs writes that should be available on Android 8+ devices. Is it possible to setup it on any Android 8+ device in SOTI? I can't find any information about it in documentation. Thanks for any information. Peter
