Hey,

We are trying to use surf as a browser for a custom app however it uses offline storage if the connection goes down we have tested it and it dosnet seem to work. Can anyone confirm if there is a setting we can use to get it working or even if we can use Chrome in kiosk mode instead and if so how?

Hi David,

When you use Chrome (even without lockdown mode), can you use your custom app and their storage well when it's offline?

Can you please share more information such as how do you access the app/storage from the browser (surf/chrome etc.) and what do you see as an error message when you try to access it from surf.

Lastly yes you can use chrome on lockdown as well.

I hope it helps.

Thanks Zafer, We can try it out. the custom application is just a web site which requires a html5 browser, when the network goes down which it does when it enters warehouses the web application is configured to use the browsers local storage.

We have used intermec's html5 browser in the past on old ck71's but now we have moved to android mc9300 I've not seen an error message on the device, but we will be doing further testing on it today.

I wasn't sure if surf had offline web storage and if I had maybe not enabled it or disabled it without knowing, I've not seen much about  it in the documentation.

Thanks a lot David

And just to add:

If it works in chrome: You can create a web-app and provide the link to the website via it. There you can also enable some kind of kiosk looking screen (https required) and the website runs as dedicaded Chrome tab which you can also add to the lockdown instead of Chrome itself (maybe chrome is needed to be a hidden kiosk item but i don't think so).
