Hi Ruwan,

Thanks for posting on SOTI Pulse, thanks Marcus, Rafael, and Raymond for responding to the post.

Disabling the Mobile data icon directly from the notification bar of an Android Enterprise device through SOTI MobiControl without using lockdown mode is not a standard feature provided by SOTI MobiControl.

Lockdown mode is a more restrictive management setting allowing you to lock down specific device functionalities and customize the user interface. With lockdown mode enabled, you can control which settings and features are accessible to the end users, including the notification bar and its icons.

Without lockdown mode, it is generally impossible to directly hide or disable specific icons from the notification bar through SOTI MobiControl. The notification bar in Android is a core component of the device's user interface and restricting its functionalities without using lockdown mode would require deep customization and significant changes to the Android system, which is not typically supported in most device management solutions.

For the Samsung devices, I am attaching a Samsung Knox portal documentation link https://docs.samsungknox.com/admin/knox-manage/kbas/kba-204.htm However, it is important to note that the documentation specifically mentions the Mobile Network Setting policy, and it does not specifically mention the Mobile data icon itself.

According to the documentation, you can prevent changes to the mobile network setting by device users by ensuring that the Mobile Network Setting policy is set to "Disallow" in the profile you plan to enroll the devices in. This policy configuration should be done before the target devices are enrolled in Knox Manage. Once applied, the device user won't be able to toggle mobile data on and off through the device settings. However, it mentions that mobile data settings can still be changed on the quick settings panel by swiping down the screen.

Therefore, while it is possible to restrict changes to the mobile network setting through the Mobile Network Setting policy in the Knox Manage portal, it may not directly disable the Mobile data icon from the quick access bar. The quick settings panel may still allow users to toggle mobile data on and off.

If you have any further issues or queries, please feel free to ask. We are here to assist you.

Did you tried to set a feature control profile to the device?

Feature Control -> Connectivity -> Wifi -> enable or disable but not "allow user to configure"

Sorry, i was somehow mislead to Wifi but you atre looking for mobile data.

For Samsung i only find the possibility in their OEMconfig app (in the non premium sections) to disable to change settings in general but i think that's way too much.
To do the requested setting here, you need the premium.

For Lenovo their OEM config app should provide what you need (we never used that setting):
- Enable Mobile Data
- Disallow to Configure Settings of Mobile Data

For Samsung devices enrolled in Android-Enterprise work-managed mode, even if mobile data is enforced with  Mobile Data  enable option in Feature-Control profile payload, the "disable mobile data" tile button in the status bar will not be removed, but will only be made useless for toggling mobile-data connection off.    While new standard Android firmware includes tiles related API's for a normal app to add/delete standard/custom quick-start items,  I don't think it is possible for a normal app to request disabling certain item from being added by other apps.  Paid products from Samsung KNOX platform such as KNOX Configure may provide API's to enable/disable certain tile entries.
