Google Managed Enterprise questions

Solved

Greetings,

I have some inquiries regarding Google Managed Enterprise in relation to our current setup with SOTI MobiControl. Currently, we have devices enrolled without using a Google Managed Enterprise account, as it was not required for our use case. The APKs were provided to us, and we utilized the package delivery method to install applications.

However, we now have additional devices that require applications from the Google Play Store. I would like clarification on the following points:

  1. If we add an enterprise binding, will this affect the devices that are already enrolled and do not require a Google Managed Enterprise account?

  2. Will the addition of an enterprise binding change the enrollment process for future devices? Specifically, we will still need to enroll devices that do not require access to Google Managed Play. Will it be possible to maintain two separate enrollment methods: one with Managed Google Play integration and one without it?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

After you add an Enterprise Binding you have to either edit your existing Enrollment rule(s) or create new ones and associate them with that binding so that managed service accounts can be assigned to the devices automatically when they are enrolled.

For existing devices that are already enrolled you can have the managed service account assigned to them the by using the Reset Account action from the device actions list.

Thanks for your answer, so after i add an Enterprise Binding i can have 2 different types of enroll (one with the enterprise binding and one with not ?) .

My main issue is that i do not want all the devices to fall under the enterprise binding (only specifics that i will enroll) .

Thanks in advance

That is correct. You can have separate Enrollment rules/policies, some with the binding associated and some without.

Hey Nikos,

Thanks for posting on SOTI pulse. Thanks Matt for responding to the post, your expertise and willingness to help are greatly appreciated!

As mentioned by Matt you will have to create two separate Enrollment Policies if you have two category of devices which need and doesn't need AE bindings. Please do let me know if you need any more clarity on this.
