Track device activity

A

Soti device licenses are expensive as we all know, and to limit the needed amount in our environment, we're tracking the "Agent Check-In time" and pulling devices from production that are not being used.

However, an online device hooked on usb power that no one is using, will not be caught by monitoring the agent check-in time.

Is there a way to track/monitor some custom data like, touch screen used X times, power button clicked X times, specific app openend X times the last X days?
Or does anyone have a better idea?

My environment:
Android devices running Android Enterprise profiles.
½ of my devices are used in warehouses meaning tracking the gps for activity wont give the data I need.

Thanks in advance.

SOTI Licenses are honestly not that expensive in the grand scheme of things. There are monitoring tools to get you more granular visibility to device metrics like SOTI XSight but you will end up paying MORE in licensing to get that extra visibility that you're looking for. I would seriously look at how much labor you are putting into actively monitoring your inventory for unused devices in addition to the lost end user productivity from having to reconfigure a device that has been unenrolled so that it can be functional again and compare that to the cost of licensing a device with SOTI. If these are warehouse devices like you mention we are talking about a mission critical deployment and having a tool like SOTI with built in Remote Control and configuration management is a major insurance policy in terms of keeping an operation running. The price of SOTI is a very small price to pay for peace of mind in maintaining a line-of-business device deployment. Just my two cents.
