Pre configuring server URL for MSCA application

Hi

We are trying to use SOTI to push the Oracle "Mobile Supply Chain for EBS" application to Zebra MC3300 devices.
The APK gets loaded okay, however we then need to manually go and set the server address on each device for the application.
Given we have a couple of hundred guns this is not very optimum. We have looked at the options in SOTI but it doesnt seem to expose the server URL so that we can configure it before we push down the application.

Oracle help file suggests the follwoing:

"To preconfigure the server URL, administrators need to configure the following String type properties in an EMM console to simplify the app deployment for users:Note: This feature has been tested and certified only on iOS devices. To leverage this feature on Android devices, it is required to register your EMM provider with Google Play.

Server_URL: This is the Oracle E-Business Suite server URL that an app should connect to by default. If a valid Oracle E-Business Suite server URL is entered in this property, the app users will not be prompted to enter the server URL when the app is launched for the first time.

Ensure that the mobile app is already "Enabled" in the Mobile Applications Manager UI pages. For information on enabling an app, see Enabling a Mobile App Individually and Specifying the Configuration Through the UI Pages."

anyone have any pointers on what to do here ?

Hi Shane,

According to the description of the app (bundle ID : com.oracle.ebs.scm.mwa.MSCA) on Managed Google Play store, you should be able to get some more information from  Oracle Support Note 1641772.1 at https://support.oracle.com.  Unfortunately, I am not a customer of Oracle and have no access to this document, and therefore cannot provide any response to your message directed to me earlier today.

The reference to "required to register your EMM provider with Google Play" would seem to indicate that they may support Managed Configurations within their app as SOTI and most EMMs do require Play based distribution of those configurations to devices after they are exposed by Managed Play to the EMM console.

You can see an example of this with the Slack app, which indicates that it supports Managed Configurations in Managed Play:

After approving the app and closing the Managed Play iFrame you can select the Advanced option within the SOTI console and see the exposed configurations that are available to you:

The Oracle app that you're working with however doesn't seem to support Managed Configurations:

So there are no options available:

You might be able to use the Configuration URI field to distribute these configuration settings but I would expect Oracle to provide more detailed documentation around the formatting giving that they aren't adhering to the Managed Configuration standard.

This Part Describes Oracle App Building Server:

"
Server_URL: This is the Oracle E-Business Suite server URL that an app should connect to by default. If a valid Oracle E-Business Suite server URL is entered in this property, the app users will not be prompted to enter the server URL when the app is launched for the first time.

Ensure that the mobile app is already "Enabled" in the Mobile Applications Manager UI pages. For information on enabling an app, see Enabling a Mobile App Individually and Specifying the Configuration Through the UI Pages."

Has nothing to do with EMM Configuration.

Has anyone found a solution? I don't want to manually type in our server URL on 85 devices I'm deploying.
