V14.3 "Is Charging"??

I see that "Is Charging" is now a device property available in the profile Filter Criteria tab.  Not sure how useful that is on the filter tab vs the options tab.  I verified that a profile set to apply when "Is Charging" = TRUE comes back off when not charging.  Does anyone have a use case where that property would be useful to them as a filter criterion?  Hopefully, that condition will make its way over to the assignment options tab shortly...

That is disappointing. I was hoping that it would be an Options tab feature so that we could leverage it to trigger app or Firmware updates. The fact that the Profile is Unapplying when not charging is a big problem.

Hello Scott - The 'Is Charging' option is designed to work only when the device is on charging. The profile pushed will stay only until the device is in charging mode.

Hi,

I might be wrong but this is exact how it should work. I would create FileSync to deploy OS/app/patch file and virtual filter group or profile that will check target version and charging status .. if the file is there, old version of OS and charged then it will launch update. Otherwise do nothing or am I missing something?

I can see that being beneficial for side-loading an OS Update .ZIP file via File Sync and then using the Profile for applying a script based Package for executing the update. With that said, you can't apply a Profile to a Virtual Group so leveraging complex Filter Criteria might be limited to the options included within Profile application.

On the other hand, I don't see how using the Is Chargin option would be helpful for App upgrades unless maybe you leveraged the option to Not Uninstall on Profile Un-Application. That seems like a messy process however because you couldn't necessarily tell which devices have an app installed on them because the relevant Profile would unapply as soon as the device is pulled from the charger. I've wanted for some time the ability to trigger the install of an app update while that app and/or device is not in use. If "Is Charging" was an Application Option instead then we would finally have that ability. Instead, the implementation seems out of place or built for a use case I'm not considering.
