Device Wipe - Confirmation

was wondering if there was any information (e.g. log entry, device details parameter, ...) to confirm a device has been successfully wiped?

I have been testing, the log reporting:

  • Wipe requested
  • Device un-enrolled by admin
  • Custom log (Wipe command received)
  • Device disconnected

As far as I can tell, device disconnected, refers to the connection between the agent on the device and the mobicontrol instance (in my case cloud).

I am also searching for the device using the REST API and the returned json isn't detailing anything I have been able to attribute to wiping.

TIA

For Android devices, a reasonably simple workaround is as follows.   Instead of initiating a device wipe action from the related action icon/menu in the web-console, send a script similar to the following to the device to be wiped:

  log -i  "ABC.com - Wipe device in 30 seconds!"

  ipaddr

  sleep 30

  reset /W

If the target device is on-line and receive the above script, there will be time-stamped log entries with the unique item ""ABC.com - Wipe device in 30 seconds!" and the current IP address(es) of the device sent back to the MobiControl server.  It is very unlikely that the wipe operation on the last line be skipped/stopped after the script has been started.  Hence, you should be nearly 100% sure that the wipe operation be done from timestamped log entries shown in your web-console.

There can be workaround for some particular device platforms and modes.   What device platform are you interested in?
