Does anyone have Zebra TC 57 android 8.1 oreo and running SOTI effectively with Kiosk/ lockdown?

Aloha,

I am testing a Zebra TC 57 and spent almost all week on the phone with support trying to get this device to work properly. SOTI support actually did everything for me to ensure it was done correctly. Created the add device rule, then walked me through the rest of the steps to set up this device. Every thing looked great until I tried to make a call, there was no contact in my contacts list. I thought it would have populated through Google since our account is binned. But I just added another Goggle account (same account that is binned) to populate the contact list. Problem solved...nope open the contact list and could not call though the contacts but if I switch to favorite list I am able. Made another call to SOTI and they verified everything is set up correctly, but found on the Kiosk, advanced setting I needed to check off the Activity Suppression. That fixed the contact list problem. But I also had a Blue tooth failed to pair problem. I shared with support I noticed a lot of apps was uninstalled and sure enough we found the Bluetooth paired utility was uninstalled. Support sent a script to reinstall and that seemed to work. Everything looked fine and worked. Excited I made my way to our vehicle to pair the device, dun, dun duuuunnnnnn. Bluetooth was not finding any active blue tooth devices, I decided to reboot the device. And as the device powered up it got stuck on the splash screen. Could not power off, nothing. I pulled the battery and tired to restart it same this stuck on the splash screen. Finally I did a factory reset (thank God that work) and tried to re-enrolled the device and was successful but all the problems still exist. If any one has been successful enrolling their device please share your victory and how you did it. I would like this device to be set up as a Work managed device, Kiosk/Lockdown, including Setting manager and feature Control. If any one has any detailed info on how to enroll that would be awesome!

Mahalo (thank you) in advance

Factory reset the device and Re-enroll using StageNow. Don't use any of the native Google AEDO methods (NFC, QR, DPC, ZTE) go for the Zebra StageNow method as it leaves all system apps enabled.

1) Unenroll from SOTI

2) Factory Reset (not enterprise wipe, full factory reset with StageNow)

3) Bypass Setup Wizard with this barcode

4) Connect to WiFi (Manually, or via a StageNow barcode if you create one)

5) Scan the following barcode to download and install the AE agent from SOTI and set it as DO

6) Scan or enter your enrollment ID

Aloha Matt,

Mahalo nui loa (thank you very much) for your answer it was very helpful. Unfortunately our IT tech had troubles installing Stagnow onto my desktop. We called Zebra and found out due to this device is a loaner/demo I need to go through congress LOL to get approval and support to install StageNow. Hopefully we will have it installed by next week and have this device enrolled and ready to rock and roll. Thanks again. Aloha and have a great and safe independence day!

Aloha Matt,

Would you be kind enough to share which Device agent you configured? I worked with Zebra support and got me all set up and StageNow but the end result I have a work profile, but I am looking to run this as a managed device. Would you know which device agent we that is needed to create a managed device profile? I hope im clear. Any questions let me know. Aloha.

I am using that process on TC52, TC8300, MC9300, L10, and VC80x devices today. The first four are all part of the same SD600/Helios platform of the devices as the TC77 so you should be able to get this to work. If you follow my process of trying to enroll the device from a factory default state then it should enroll as a Managed Device.

Hi Matt,

we use your process and it works! Thanks!

Can you tell us what you configure in this Barcode?
We try the Wizzard in StageNow and we get every time a WorkProfile.

With your Barcode we get an WorkManaged Device :)

I use Xpert Mode -> Wizard -> MDM enrollment rather than the Wizard->MDM enrollment option. I also pull the AE agent directly from SOTI's site by copying the download link.

Aloha Matt, My apologies for not thanking you for this process. We just got our new devices MC 57's and I followed your process and worked like a charm...until I power down the device. For some reason it get stuck on the start up / splash screen and the only way to get out is to enter recovery mode (Power/PTT and Scan button) and do a Factory reset. Have you encountered this? If so would you know a remedy for this?  Mahalo nui loa (thank you very much) for all your help you provide for me and the rest of the SOTI community. Aloha

What version of Settings Manager and Android version on your devices? If the TC57s are now running A10 (likely as it has been cut in at manufacturing) then you need to be running a 15.x version of Settings Manager.
