Zebra Firmware Update Via SOTI MobiControl

I’m upgrading Zebra devices from Android 13 to Android 14 via SOTI. However, after the upgrade, the devices are factory reset and get unenrolled from SOTI. Is it possible to perform the upgrade without resetting the devices — to upgrade directly without a wipe?

What device models is this occuring on? There is an enterprise reset that will occur on Zebra Helios/SD660 family devices when upgrading to Android 13, but the impacts of that can be mitigated with careful planning. I am not aware of any known situations where a factory reset would occur upgrading a Zebra device, of any kind, between A13 and A14.

Perhaps you are upgrading from a high level of A13 with a higher security patch level to a lower A14 and lower security patch level? That would be one reason for triggering a rest of the device.

Thank you for your comment. I haven't checked the security patch. Device Model zebra TC52

Let's say your devices are on 13-43-04.00-TG-U00 with security patch level June 01, 2025. If you were to try to upgrade them to 14-23-05.00-UG-U00 with security patch level October 05, 2024, even though it would be an upgrade from A13 to A14, it would be a downgrade of the security patch level, which can trigger a reset. This is a built in security measure. You can mitigate this by upgrading to a higher OS AND security patch level combination.

Yes, that seems to be the problem. There are 350 devices. I'll try your suggestion to overcome this.
