As of Aug 2018,  is MobiControl v14 still only supporting the following two linux distributions:

   Ubuntu 16.04 or later

    Raspbian 8.0 or later

Are there any other distributions in the process of certification?  If so, what are the estimated schedule to officially have them certified and supported?

Also, it seems that only out-of-contact policy is the only profile payload available in the forthcoming MobiControl v14.2.  Is there any feature roadmap to add other profile payloads for the linux device platform in the near future?

Hi Ryan,

Our Linux agent is generic, we have tested our agent against Centos, Red Hat 7.4, Ubuntu 14.04, 16.04, Fedora.

In 14.2, we have changed the naming convention to avoid the confusion of linking it with Linux Distribution. We have introduced 3 new types of agent along with their headless variants:

  • Linux 64 bit
  • Linux 32 bit
  • Linux ARM

Generally, device manufacturer keeps some restriction on device to make them specific purpose device so we are recommending to certify each type of Linux device before using MobiControl to manage them. Linux Certification portal will be up in couple of weeks.

We have also certified Zebra FX7500/9600 which is running on customized Linux distribution.

In 14.3, we are introducing Application run control to blacklist the application running on Linux device.

We have plans to introduce profiles related certificates, Wi Fi, LAN and Feature Control.

We are also working on improving the scripting capabilities for Linux platform using our remote shell.
