Are you accessing web pages or using any web-apps that use WebSQL APIs to store structured user's data in local device? If not, I can't see why there is any worry. particularly with Soti Surf.. API comes and goes every now and then as web browsers and web technologies evolve with time. If any web-pages/web-apps still use such API and need to stay accessible with ALL Chrome/webkit based browser/rendering-engine, their corresponding developers should make changes to the codes to use other storage API's such as localStorage, sessionStorage or IndexedDB. If you are a paying customer for such web services/apps, then voice out your request at their support/customer-service page to upgrade their codes.
This concerns customers application where data are effectively used/stored on mobile devices.
These applications are not developed by my company so we can't force any development update changing the storage process.
So do you confirm that new SURF version will probably also depreciate websql ?
Is there any risk for exisitng SURF versions ?
I am not from Soti and have not heard anything about WebSQL api support for Soti Surf. I am not sure if there will be any official answer here in this discussion thread. Maybe there will be a new article on this topic released in the near future. If not, you probably need to open an official support ticket to ask for an official answer.
Surf, like any browser on Android, is dependent on the WebView implementation. I therefore believe if there are changes like this coming to the System WebView then browsers like Surf would also be impacted.
Hi Steve,
Thank you for posting on SOTI Pulse!
I have been researching into this inquiry and will be bringing this information forward internally to provide some in-depth information if these changes will impact Soti surf. I am hopeful to provide an update soon!

Hi Steve,
Apologies for the delay in the follow up. One of the product managers reached out regarding WebSQL support. They have indicated that this depreication will not affect SOTI Surf. However, they will be looking over the Webview API's with our team internally to ensure compatibility with WebSQL.
Kind regards,
