Devices are constantly ringing from time to time

Hello,

just a little background story:

We use certificate based wifi auth., when installing a cert without a device plugin the agent does a "ring tone" and asks the user for permission when there is no pin code set.

We set a pincode automatically via script and also the deviceplugin is installed. Now when the device gets to the Wifi-Profile it does the exact same behaviour as without a pin code and deviceplugin for a short period of time untill the device has fully installed the wifi profile and could connect to the wifi network.

This ringtone that comes up when the agent asks for permission i.e. cert installation now starts randomly and then device keeps ringing for like half an hour or longer. the thing is that neither wifiprofile or certificate need to be refreshed or reinstalled.

Has anyone of you experienced this before and what was your solution?

Hi John,

Thank you for posting in SOTI Central.

My understanding is this sound is directly related to Pending Actions, what I suggest you do is restrict that Wifi / Cert profile to the following Profile Criteria. See the below as reference:

Could you try enabling this and let us know if you're seeing a difference in behavior? This should prevent the sound from occurring constantly because the conditions are met for the Certificate Profile installation.

The Filter Criteria you must use is Passcode Enabled = true

Good morning,

we have the same problem that the device makes noise regularly and wants to install a certificate.
The message comes 1x a day in the morning and as long as you confirm it, then the device is also quiet.
Otherwise it rings every few minutes.

Where exactly can I set these filter criteria for the Wifi+Cert+Authentication Profile?

You can set the filter criteria under Compliance Policies.

Create a new compliance policy then give it a name. In the next
step you can enter the criteria JDMOD mentioned.

"SOTI MobiControl 15.1.0 significantly expanded the former functionality of compliance policies."

With Mobicontrol 14.5.4.1035 on our side it is now clear that I havent seen that feature before.
