StageNow and Android Enterprise

Hi,

I would be interested in learning more about the role of the Zebra StageNow app when a device is enrolled using the afw#mobicontrol method. One of our clients has been using StageNow to configure their Zebra TC20 devices, and are now evaluating Soti MobiControl. The StageNow app seems to become disabled when the devices are reset and enrolled, i.e. StageNow is visible in the app list but is labelled as "stagenow not installed for this user".

Is this a behaviour which is by design? I.e. once a device has been enrolled into Soti MobiControl, should you not use the StageNow app?

Should we try to enable the StageNow app using enable_system_app (if so, what is the bundle ID?), or should we look into other methods?

Regards,

Daníel

Hi,

We have been enrolling devices into AE and using SOTI to get them to a connection only build, and then using StageNow to align the OS. I have not seen the Stagenow error you refer to. However the bundle ID, should the enable_system_app work is com.symbol.tool.stagenow if you want to try that

Thanks

I agree with Richard on that approach. StageNow is designed to be a staging utility that is complimentary to an EMM like SOTI and therefore it is not a directly comparable solution. Beyond using StageNow for the initial staging process you can also build MX configurations within the utility and then export them as XML files that can be distributed via SOTI Package or File Sync rule and then applied by the MobiControl agent with the mxconfig script.
