Alert Rule using a Macro

Hi,

is it possible to use an Alert Rule with Macros?

For example

We have .ini file on the device which contains the hostname for example "abc123"

I want to raise an alert if the following happens

Hostname.ini is not equal to %hostname% --> so the hostname the device itself has.

If this alert gets raised, I want the device to start a script with which the hostname will change to the correct one.

I cannot find any information, if the alerts are possible with macros.

Thanks for any ideas how to proceed with this.

What device platform are you talking about?  What about the version and build numbers of your MobiControl server?

While I have previously successfully used Android Alert Rule triggered based on custom data collecte from .ini file,  macro was not used as far as I remember.  There might be support for some standard macro(s) in some recent MobiControl server versions   Doing a  quick test on your particular MobiControl server and device of interest should only take a few minutes.

If it does not work, one possible workaround is likely to use MobiControl REST api calls to implement an alert mechanism, though programming expertise is needed in the implementation.

I'm sorry I forgot to mention.

It's Android based and Mobicontrol is the latest 15.2
