Enabling ERG Stops Soti Surf

Hi,

I have setup a soti-surf profile with only a home page defined (bbc.co.uk).

When I push this to a device Soti-surf opens and natigates to the home page (bbc.co.uk)

If I then update the profile to enable the ERG but have no domains listed, Soti-surf fails to open and displays the error - 'Please try again later or contact your administrator for assistance'.

I was under the impression that the ERG would only be used for the domains listed in the profile, therefore, if there are no domains listed usual connectivity would continue.

Am I mistaken or what have I missed?

If I'm correct in my thought process, do we have a problem with the MobiControl installation?

Thanks

Hi Dan,

I tested the SOTI Surf behavior in our environment.

It does not matter whether you have intranet domains listed in your ERG profile or not. In both cases SOTI Surf is working fine. If there are no intranet domains configured, SOTI Surf is only able to connect to internet websites (i.e. bbc.co.uk).

But: If you ticked "Enable Intranet Gateway" in the profile, SOTI Surf checks, if the ERG is reachable. If not: The error message you described appears.

It seems you have got a problem in your ERG infrastructure.

Hi,

Only the domains listed under the Intranet Gateway option in the SOTI Surf Profile configuration are the ones that are routed through ERG. Any other domain traffic should go directly to the internet.

Is there any Website Filtering being used by any chance?

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for the confirmation.

There is no website filtering.

I only have configured the home page (bbc.co.uk) and the ERG (no listed domains)

Thanks

Hi Simon,

Thanks for your response.

I was leaning towards that conclusion.  I suspect there is a network tweak that needs to be made in our complicated infrastructure. !

Appreciate your help.
