Hello.

One of our clients has terminals Paybird PAX A920. We installed the client for this brand and the client works correctly.

For us to use this client, the agent apk was sent to them so that they could place it in their store and only then we were able to install and configure the agent.

They conduct tests to verify the installers that are in their store and recently they sent us a report saying the installer failed the tests.

The report said:

SOTI Mobicontrol:

Reject Reason: This application uses the Inject Events Android permission. That is not authorized on PAX Terminals

For this application to continue in the store, a new version has to be generated and the android permission inject_events has to be removed.

The version of the agent that is installed is  14.4.2.1039.

Is there any new version of the agent that has this permission removed? If so, where can I get it?

Thank you

Nuno

There are currently 3 newer versions (v15.2.0, v15.2.4 & v15.4.3) of Android Classics device agents for PAX A920 downloadable at

  https://docs.soti.net/mobicontrolagentdownloads/

Please download them and test them yourself whether there is any similar installation problem related to Inject Events permission.

Hi Nuno,

Thank you for posting on SOTI Pulse!

As suggested by Raymond above, please have a look at our agent downloads page and test an enrollment on one of our new agent releases for the Paybird devices. Do let us know if the same error is occurring on these newer releases as well.

Kind regards,

Hello again.

I've sent Mobicontrol agent version 15.4.3.1054 for them to evaluate and the answer has still the same.

SOTI Mobicontrol:

Reject Reason: This application uses the Inject Events Android permission. That is not authorized on PAX Terminals

As this terminal is a Bank terminal, this sort of operations (Inject Android Events) is not allowed.

Is there any other version that I can send them, that has <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INJECT_EVENTS"/> not enabled?

Thank you for your help.

Hello again.

Is there any other thing I can do about this problem?

Paybird is saying that they will remove SOTI Mobicontrol from their store and we will not be able to access those terminals.

Thank you for your help

Hi Nuno,

I have looked into paybird devices and I do see that it is certifed, I am reaching out to our OEM team to investigate the error presented and will reach out soon with updates.

Could you also provide the Android OS version that the terminals are running currently, so we can investigate further?

Thank you!

Kind regards,

Hi Nuno

I have reached out internally to one of our OEM product managers that is knowledgable for these devices, he recommends reaching out to the OEM for a possible OS upgrade, as a product key that is provided by the OEM is needed to authorize these permissions that is available on later android versions.

Please reach out to OEM as soon as possible for further information.
