The only version of MobiControl that allows a user to set an alert when a specified number of licences are remaining is 14.2. In this version, you are also able to have an alert generated when a specified percentage of device licenses is remaining. See screenshot below.

In previous versions of MobiControl, the only option for a system alert in regards to MobiControl license limits would be when the "Number configured devices has reached the licensed amount".

Rotisserie, one would have to log in to the webconsole to actually be aware of the problem, I guess by a pop-up coming up first thing after logging in.

As Matt mentioned, when an alert is triggered, you can have it send an email to an administrator.

This is option can be configured when creating/editing an alert rule. I have attached a screenshot of the window that allows you to configure email. You will either need to have an exiting email profile setup or you can configure a new email profile from this window.
