Soti Mobi Control Cloud vs Soti Mobi Control on Prem

Hello,

We have a trial of Soti Mobi Control Cloud I have it setup however we are looking to setup UNC paths in the Soti hub so that people can access our internal file shares. Reading through the documentation (Soti seems poor for this) it's a bit of a faf for what should be simple.

Are there benefits to having Soti Mobi Control cloud based rather than on prem ? If your using on prem does everything integrate easier ?

Cheers

I am not from Soti, and the following comments are based on my personal experiences with many tens of corporate/governmental customers in the last five years.

Some MobiControl functionalities are difficult, if not impossible, with cloud server.   You can't run remote desktop on the cloud instance to do lots of administrative work.  Security can also be a concern because you might need to tweak the firewall rules on the AWS cloud server, but you have no such access right and need Soti support team to help you out.

In general,  all my serious customers with large scale deployment and using advance functionalities will use on-premises MobiControl server to get full control of everything.   Their IT team need to receive on-site training from me or my colleagues to learn the best practices and tricks to use MobiControl, and to do the day-to-day operation/maintenance tasks.   MobiControl Cloud instance is only for pilot run, or used by some very small enterprises with limited budget and/or small/no IT team.

Hello Raymond,

Many thanks for the response we definitely have the resources internally to be able to place this on prem. Looking into it for AD integration / UNC shares I am assuming it's the same setup as the cloud so you need the Cloud link / WebDAV or are you able to just link in assuming your on the same network ?

Cheers

Frankly speaking,  I don't know what you mean in your follow-up question.

When your on-premises MobiControl server(s) are implemented properly on your corporate network,  everything that need to be integrated (AD server, shared file-system, ERG, WebDav, Mail Server, ...) should be accessible without any change to your existing network infrastructure, and you don't need the cloud link module.
