Paste text through MC remote control on Android 11 device

We are currently using version 15.6.5.1018. When I start a remote session on an Android 11 device, I cannot insert text into a field on the device. I was under the impression that this was possible in earlier versions. Does anyone know if this is an Android restriction or is this no longer supported by SOTI MC?

Please elaborate what "field"  are you talking about?

in my example I need to fill in, the user and passwort of a VPN connection on about 30  ZEBRA TC27 devices. I also noticed in the same context, that selecting a file from the locale storage is also not possible. This would us help to import the VPN profile settings via file.

For your general question:

Copy/Paste works only in legacy remote control, not yet in the web version (as other functionalitys still missing there or outsourced to the licensed one).

To your problem:
Why don'T you provide a login certificate to those devices or provide the VPN settings via profile?

Hi Thomas, I would go with the advice by Rafael.
If you are using something like OpenVPN you can import profiles or even certificates with a package and then a profile.
I do the same for a customer. He only needs to enter a login code.
I don't know if your application is necessary maybe you could even use the native VPN opportunities provided by android?

One more thing to add here: If He uses a VPN app, maybe he can provide those credentials via managed app config.

So there are several things to investigate.

I can get what you are referring to.   If I remember correctly, I think it is possible to do that kind of cut-and-paste action.  Have you deploy any feature-control or OEMConfig policy onto the device to disallow cut-and-paste operation?  Also, have you tried using different web-browser if your remote control session is an html5-based one?

Hi Raymond, no I have not deployed any feature-control or OEMConfig policy to disallow cut-and-paste operation. It seems not available in general. And yes, I have tried different web-browser.

Maybe someone from SOTI can confirm, that this feature is only availble in the plugin-version of remote control?

Hello Thomas

Could you please confirm if had the chance to try it using the certificate to login to the device or provide the VPN settings via profile to them and if it has successfully addressed your query?
