Xiaomi Redmi 9A android update problem

Hello, we have a problem installing Android update on Xiaomi Redmi 9A. Our devices are Android Enterprise.  we use them in lockdown mode. So end users can not press the update button. Android system update message is displayed on the top part of the screen when scrolling down. also the "update' button is active and displayed near the "Information about the phone" after You enter Administrator mode and open "Settings". Tried sending script.

writeprivateprofstring SystemUpdatePolicy SystemUpdatePolicy 1

apply SystemUpdatePolicy

did not help.

Phone simply seem to ignore it. Apart from message from the top of the screen disappears for some time.

restart also did not help.

when i try to install update manually in administrator mode the device asks to approve automatic update installation.

Obviously the the script did not work. after proceeding with update device is asking to confirm if the update can be downloaded through the gsm connection? In update settings, there is "Download using mobile data" option which is obviously turned off by default.

perhaps someone can help please with knowledge on how to configure all those settings using Soti Mobicontrol?

Hi Zanis,

Do you still have an issue?

What is the agent version on the device that is going to have OS upgrade?

set_system_update_policy 1

This command supported on Android Enterprise Managed Devices running Android 6.0 or later with an agent of 13.8.x or earlier.

The command that you were using supported Android Enterprise (Work Managed) with an agent 13.9.0 or later. Can you please try the command below and advise the result?

writeprivateprofstring SystemUpdatePolicy 1
apply SystemUpdatePolicy

Please find the details on the link below.

Good day! we have tried all commands. No success. Currently we managed the update on each device manually, so it is not that important anymore. The problem seem to be in phone settings. We use gsm connection with WIFI turnd off. When starting the update on the device manually it requests several approvals. It need to 1. Turn on automatic download, 2. Approve download via GSM. I suspect running the command You have mentioned will not do the above mentioned setting change.

Hi Zanis,

According to my latest online search results, both XiaoMi RedMi 9 and Redmi 9T are AE Reecommended devices, but not RedMi 9A.

There might be s slim chance that the RedMi 9A is less compatible than the other two, and thus have problem/glitch(es) related to firmware update mechanism.  However, you should verify the version and build numbers of the device agent running on your device, and use corresponding script commands as mentioned by NTMOD@SOTI to test again, and share your test results.
