Migrating to a new dedicated server, on premises

Hey there

I have asked support about this but they are stating it is a paid service as I am on premises.  I find it challenging that they don't at least have a white paper on this.  I am a SQL DBA and have no problem with the SQL components of the move.  I am a paid user with 50 client access licenses I pay maintenance on.

I sent this to support but they won't even point me at a resource.

I am moving to a new web hosting server and would like to move my SOTI mobicontrol install.

My reg code:  I have a 30 device license install.

Is it acceptable to move this like any SQL install?  That is, install mobicontrol same version on new server, then restore the SQL databases from the current server?  I don't have too much configuration but I am hoping for the easiest move.

I am aware that I want to push out secondary server config to each device per this article before shutting the old one down.

Any other thoughts?  Will there be a licensing issue for the short time while both servers are running?

My understanding of server migrations is that one of the bigger complexities stems from the certificates used to verify the authenticity of the server itself. Your devices that are enrolled and managed by the existing SOTI server have an established trust with that server. You cannot simply point devices from one server address to another without breaking that chain of trust so special care needs to be taken to ensure the devices do not get orphaned. This is why SOTI suggests that you engage their professional service.
