Google Chrome Fullscreen | Lockdown | MobiControl 14.4

Hello everyone, maybe someone here can help me. We have the issue that we are currently running a few devices with MobiControl version 14.4, and we are using the Google Chrome browser. We would like to open a website in fullscreen mode from the lockdown. Does anyone have an idea how we can do this?

In MobiControl 2025.1, there are the app configurations where this can be set. Unfortunately, we cannot use SOTI Surf here because the integration with the proxy fails, and the helpdesk has not been able to assist me either.

Is there a way to configure Google Chrome under MobiControl 14.4? Or does anyone have an alternative browser that could work?

Thanks and best regards

Does it have to be the full chrome browser in full screen or would a WebView be sufficient? I cannot recall if this was an option in 14.x but in newer versions you can use the https:// action in the lockdown configuration and it should open the URL in full screen.

Alternatively you could explore using a configured version of SOTI Surf, which would allow for the same.

Hi Matt,

thanks for the information.

Yes, a WebView would be sufficient, but it doesn't use the proxy. I’m getting an Err-Connection_Timed_Out because it tries to connect directly.

Of course, I would like to use SOTI Surf, but there are issues with using it with our proxy server over LTE, as no exceptions can be added. With SOTI Surf, it only works over Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, the support team couldn’t help me with this. I’m encountering the same issue with version 2025.01.

If you use GMS, you can create a web-app using the managed playstore.

You also could add this web-app via it's bundleID to the lockdown like any other app then.

Hello everyone and sorry for the late message, been quite busy...

Unfortunately, I still have the same problem.

@Rafael: Unfortunately, we can't use GMS like this for security reasons; otherwise, it would be quite simple, that's true.

The problem is that we have to route the traffic through the proxy. I've already tried using the ERG for this, but unfortunately, the connection still doesn't work. However, I've already opened a ticket for this. It's about time there’s a proxy configuration for SOTI Surf. The ERG is already over 6 years old, and it doesn't make sense to route the traffic through it when I already have an application like SOTI Surf on the device.

Looking forward to the solution :)
Thanks to everyone!
