browsers:// does not work from lockdown menu unless Launch://com.android.chrome is added

I'm using MobiControl Cloud version 15.3.3.1065 to manage Zebra TC21 devices running Android 10.  Chrome is the only browser installed. I need to open specific web sites in Chrome from the lockdown menu.  I discovered that browser:// and browsers:// do not work unless I add Launch://com.android.chrome to the lockdown menu.  Using an intent to open the web site in Chrome also does not work unless Launch://com.android.chrome is added to the lockdown menu.

Why is this happening?  I don't want Chrome on the lockdown menu.

Hi Sam,

Thank you for your post on Central.

I believe what you are experiencing is an expected behavior; however, it is possible to hide the Chrome icon in lockdown if you would not like users to access the Chrome application.

Kind Regards

Thank you for your response!  To hide the Chrome icon on the lockdown menu, do I need to edit the lockdown template (HTML) or is there another way?

Hi Sam,

Were you able to figure out how to hide Chrome?

There are a couple ways to go about it but I believe the easiest way would be by using the item https:// instead of Launch:// and entering the website you want to direct the user to.

Another option will be to edit the html template. See Screenshot below.

I hope this answers the question.

Please do mark this post as solved if this helped or if you were able to figure it out.

Thank you & Kind Regards :)

Hiding the lockdown menu item icon associated with chrome browser in the html template should be one way to solve your problem.  The task is simple and straightforward if you are using the classical non-dynamic html template.
