Cannot change display settings with Settings Manager on Samsung devices

My customer is having problems adjusting display brightness with Soti Settings Manager on their Samsung Xcover 3 and 4.

I have created a profile for them with a lockdown  enabling status bar expansion but disabling settings changes. Package Blocking and Samsung Package Disabling are off. The profile also has a Feature Control with a only a few settings set, none of which are relevant to display or settings. Finally the profile has a Settings Manager configuration allowing all settings changes.

The only way I can enable changing display brightness is by allowing settings changes, but then I would have to disable status bar expansion to prevent tampering with network settings by the end user. This is not an option. But shouldn't Soti Settings Manager bypass this setting and be allowed to change display settings?

My Mobicontrol server is 14.4.1.1195

Agent version on my test Xcover 4 is 13.8.0 1047 (ELM)

Settings manager is 14.3.4 Build132

Yes, at first 14.2.2 was installed. Did not try any 13.x version.

I'd appreciate some more comments on this issue. I now have a similar problem with another customer where Bluetooth cannot be enabled because settings changes is disabled. Settings Manager should still work, right?

System pull down menu must be enabled because of notifications.

Disable settings changes must be enabled because of above.

For Samsung devices, you can try the following:

1. do not disable settings changes in lockdown menu/kiosk mode profile payload.  

2. add application run control profile payload to blacklist Settings instead.

Thanks Raymond for your suggestion. It works, but will not allow brighness settings to be saved. I can change brightness from within Settings Manager but as soon as i leave brighness settings in it the brighness get reverted to whatever setting there was before. If i remove the run control to allow com.android.settings, the brighness adjustment is saved.

So, it still seems Settings Manager is depending on system settings.

Have you tried using launchalways:// rather than launch:// for your lockdown item associated with Settings Manager?

 Thanks for your suggestion. This did not change anything.

In Settings Manager I can adjust the brightness, but as soon as i step back to Settings Manager menu (not exiting the app!) the brightness reverts to whatever the setting was.
