You can add a second batch of 255 apps in another app policy to be deployed to the same set of devices/device-groups, can't you?
What device platform and device mode are you talking about?
Do you have all 255 apps defined in one single app policy?
So, is the issue now that you can't assign more then 255 apps to any number of app policys or "just" a single one?
Then your solution should be what Raymond posted after my question here: Create a second app policy with same filters etc. and add there those new apps to be assigned.
Only a suggestion:
I really don't get how 255 (and more) apps can be "General Apps". I think you should rethink the structure of your app policys and maybe seperate apps (with still same assignement rules) in several app policys with better context in app policy name so you don't loose the overview and everytime you have a new app to be assigned to add it to the relevant app policy.
Example: We have seperated the (Microsoft) Office apps and we also have "system apps" which includes only the system apps etc. but all with the same assignement and filters but if apps to the relevant context have to be added they get into those.
