How to hide android navigation bar with a lockdown

Good afternoon,

I cannot find any way to completely hide the android navigation bar on our devices while on lockdown with single app mode on.

We are working with Android Enterprise profiles

Manufacturer
Elo Touch Solutions
Model
15in-I-Series-4
Android version
10

I did try with writeproofsetting scripts but not sure I have the right one.

The bar is already disabled but best would be to be able to hide it or at least replace it with the gestures navigation.

Thanks a lot for your help!

You could only test of switching to gesture mode (if already available) but then you have the gestures available instead.See comment later ;)

I don't know any other way to hide it.
Also keep in mind you can enter admin mode then only via the ^ gesture if the device is offline.

Hi Rafael,

Thanks for your message.

That would be an option, we are used to the ^ gesture.

Is there any chance you are aware of any existing script to switch from nav bar to gesture mode ?

Many thanks again

no, only if the oem config app is providing this (or in case of Zebra, their xml/ stageNow solution).

There may be someone else here, more confident with some scripting, but not known by myself. Sorry.

And there must be a way as Hexnode for example provides it in a guide to their MDM.

I missed one setting!

If you use "Native" in the lockdown profile you can enable "" which also disables the navigation buttons (if the tooltip is correct).

Sorry, it was too long since i used/looked into that setting ;)

I found this script that works perfectly on Android 10 devices but not on 12 and I cannot find any way in.

writesecuresetting -glo policy_control immersive.full=com.example.app

Any chance anyone has a clue on that one ?

Any script that would allow me to force that one into the system ?

Thanks a lot

A lot of writesecuresetting based scripts don't work anymore on the Android Enterprise managed devices in SOTI. They are somewhat of a remnant of the Device Administrator era of management. I'm not sure if you were still managing your A10 under DA or not but that could be an explanation for why it worked on A10 and not A12.

As for this issue I think you can accomplish what you're looking for using Full Device Lockdown in the Native mode of the lockdown Profile payload as Rafael has suggested.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for your feedback on the writesecuresetting based scripts. I am managing both devices types under the same configuration.

I am using the native lockdown to disable the navigation bar and that works perfectly. The matter here is about hiding the navigation bar as we don't want end customers to see it while using the device.

I understand that we need to use Android immersive mode and I cannot find any way to use the immersive mode one the app showed on single app mode in the lockdown.

Any clue on that ?

Many thanks for your help

Hi all,

I encountered the same issue. Despite settings in Lockdown, navigation bar was still visible.
Solution is to change navigation settings to gesture, in device settings.
